Create a speculative artifact that evoke novel futures of how to better sustain peace.
We followed the methodogy of speculative deisgn along with the guidance of the community of Speculative Futures Lima. First, we identified signals of the future about peace building and the current conflicts. Then, we grouped all os these signals and classified them into trends and emerging issues. Finally, we solved a futuristic framework called the Trend Canvas that helped us define the speculative artifact. One of the trends that caught most of our attention was the rise of the use of videogames in different industries and the potential and skills of gamers to solve complex problems with strategy, collaboration and creativity. So we decided to based our artifact in gamers and created future scenarios based on it.
The speculative artifact we created is a worldwide organization called United Gamers that helps improve global conflict management and explore new ways to simulate decision making. United Gamers is an international organization founded in 2028 made up of 194 experienced video game players who are representatives of each country in the world. It was inspired by the United Nations itself. It’s mission is to preserve peace in the world and protect humanity from all enemies. One of the main activities of this organization is a virtual world that helps anticipate conflict, play out future scenarios and advance early warning.
