Help citizens and decision makers have a holistic approach of the territory and identify opportunities that contributes to the urban-social growth of the city slums, through mapping and real time data.
Peru is 80% made up of informal human settlements or slums according to CAPECO. This accelerated urban growth of cities make us rethink the way we are managing the territory and demand us to take action. We decided to design an urbantech platform that would not only put slums on the map, but also be the voice of citizens. We created a human-tech identity that showcases the importance of slums as well as the power of technology.
i’mappin is a smart urban platform that educates people about slums, sharing and collecting information of the territory through real time maps. This platfom is composed by four main components: data base, data visualization, geospatial analysis and territorial intelligence. In the first stage of the urban platform, we build a prototype to test the idea and we create a social network to share information about slums in Latin America with the goal of bringing more consciousness and interest from all people.

Since we launched the idea of i’mappin in all social networks, we caught interest and attention from different stakeholders. The idea of the startup was finalist in different competitions and since 2019, our online community and followers continue growing. In 2021, i’mappin launched an initiative to register 200 thesis projects realized in different slums of Peru in order to build a data base and information.
